Verona is a UNESCO World Heritage city of around 255,000 people on the Adige River, the second largest in northeast Italy. The University of Verona, founded in 1982, now enrols about 31,000 students across 13 departments and 101 degree programmes, 14 of them taught in languages other than Italian. Students cluster in Veronetta, the university quarter on the river's left bank, close to the Roman Arena and the old town's medieval and Renaissance streets. Shakespeare set three plays here, and Juliet's House still draws visitors from around the world.
