Zaragoza counted about 699,007 residents in 2025, making it Spain's fourth largest city and home to more than half of Aragon's population. The University of Zaragoza, founded in 1542, is one of the country's oldest, and its 2024 to 2025 figures list about 27,800 degree and exchange students plus 1,057 incoming students through cooperation and mobility programmes. Sitting on the Ebro river almost exactly halfway between Madrid and Barcelona, with an AVE station at Delicias, the city gives exchange students Mudejar architecture, a UNESCO listed old town and a genuinely Spanish pace of life, without the price tag of the bigger capitals.
