Reims is a mid sized city of about 178,000 people in the Champagne region, under an hour from Paris by TGV yet home to a proper student scene of its own. The University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, founded in 1548, brings around 18,000 students into the city, alongside a Sciences Po campus with 1,500 students on European exchange. Reims crowned the kings of France for centuries, and its Cathedral, Palace of Tau and Abbey of Saint-Remi form a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also home to the headquarters of some of the world's biggest champagne houses.
