Nichée à la pointe sud du lac Vättern, Jönköping est une ville universitaire accueillante et facile à parcourir à pied, connue pour son école de commerce internationale et sa vie étudiante au bord du lac.

Jönköping University, et surtout son International Business School (JIBS), attire une grosse communauté d'échange, donc tu atterris dans une bulle vraiment internationale. Le campus compact se trouve juste au bord du lac Vättern, dont les plages et les couchers de soleil deviennent la toile de fond de ton semestre. C'est petit et facile à s'y installer, avec Göteborg et Stockholm accessibles en train pour les virées plus longues.

  • JIBS (Jönköping International Business School) est construite autour de l'échange, avec un solide programme de buddy
  • Le campus est central et à quelques pas du lac et de la ville
  • Göteborg est à environ deux heures, Stockholm autour de trois heures et demie

Le syndicat étudiant de Jönköping et les clubs de JIBS font tourner les semaines d'accueil, les sittningar et les fêtes, et le public international crée une scène soudée et sociable. Le pub du syndicat et les bars autour d'Östra Storgatan sont les lieux étudiants principaux, et le semestre d'été amène barbecues et baignades sur le rivage de Vättern. C'est un endroit où tu connais vite tout le monde dans ta promo.

  • Le pub du syndicat et la vie nocturne autour d'Östra Storgatan sont le cœur social
  • Quand il fait chaud, les plages du lac et Rocksjön sont les spots incontournables

Jönköping est dans la moyenne pour la Suède, alors prévois un budget d'environ 8 500 à 11 000 SEK (à peu près 750 à 950 euros) par mois. Les chambres étudiantes coûtent 3 500 à 5 000 SEK, et la ville est assez petite pour que tu marches ou fasses du vélo plutôt que de payer les transports. Cuisiner à la maison et profiter des offres déjeuner fait l'essentiel des économies.

  • Mange l'offre dagens lunch en semaine pour économiser sur la bouffe
  • Achète l'alcool chez Systembolaget ; le pub du syndicat est la sortie du soir pas chère

Studentbostäder i Jönköping est le principal bailleur étudiant, avec des chambres à Råslätt et Öxnehaga et, plus proche, à Rosenlund, et l'université aide à placer les étudiants en échange, donc accepte l'offre tôt. Råslätt est moins cher mais à un trajet de bus, tandis que les options centrales coûtent plus. Évite les dépôts pour des sous-locations non vues.

  • Råslätt est abordable mais hors du centre ; les chambres centrales évitent les trajets
  • Demande au groupe Jönköping sur Studcasa des pistes de sous-location et des conseils honnêtes sur les quartiers

La ville est compacte et facile à parcourir à pied, et un vélo couvre le reste. Les bus urbains et régionaux tournent sur Jönköpings Länstrafik (JLT) ; utilise l'appli pour les billets et un abonnement mensuel si tu vis plus loin. La gare au centre te connecte à Göteborg et, via des correspondances, à Stockholm.

  • Marche ou fais du vélo, le centre de Jönköping est petit et plat le long du lac
  • Utilise l'appli JLT pour les bus ; un abonnement mensuel convient aux navetteurs de Råslätt et Öxnehaga
  • Les trains depuis la gare centrale rejoignent Göteborg en environ deux heures

Jönköping University est connue pour le commerce (JIBS), l'ingénierie, les sciences de la santé et l'éducation, avec plein de cours enseignés en anglais visant les étudiants en échange. L'enseignement s'appuie sur des projets de groupe, des études de cas et des présentations plutôt que sur de gros examens. Le personnel est accessible et informel.

  • JIBS pour le commerce et l'économie ; les écoles d'ingénierie et de santé pour les sciences et le soin
  • Attends-toi à des études de cas, du travail de groupe et une évaluation continue plutôt qu'à de gros examens finaux

Ça dépend de ta nationalité. Les étudiants de l'UE, de l'EEE et suisses n'ont besoin d'aucun visa ni permis de séjour et ont pleinement le droit d'étudier et de rester. Les étudiants hors UE restant plus de 90 jours ont besoin d'un permis de séjour pour études auprès de l'Agence suédoise des migrations (Migrationsverket), demandé en ligne avant l'arrivée, avec preuve d'admission, de ressources et une assurance santé complète.

Candidate le plus tôt possible, car le traitement peut prendre des semaines voire des mois en haute saison. Tu voudras aussi obtenir un numéro personnel suédois (personnummer) si tu restes une année complète, car il débloque les services bancaires, la santé et plein d'autres services, même si les séjours plus courts peuvent se contenter d'un numéro de coordination. Garde des copies numériques de tout.

  • UE/EEE/Suisse — aucun visa ni permis nécessaire
  • Hors UE au-delà de 90 jours — permis de séjour études via Migrationsverket
  • Candidate en ligne tôt ; le traitement en haute saison est lent
  • Un personnummer débloque banque et santé pour les séjours d'un an

Le fika rythme la journée ici comme partout en Suède, et le cadre lacustre façonne la vie, des baignades estivales aux balades hivernales. La ville a une bonne scène de cafés et un marché le samedi, et les événements du syndicat étudiant gardent la bouffe pas chère et sociale. L'alcool vient de chez Systembolaget.

  • Fais des pauses fika dans les cafés le long d'Östra Storgatan
  • Baigne-toi aux plages de Vättern les mois chauds, l'eau est réputée pour sa clarté
  • La Suède est cashless, alors garde une carte sur toi

Le centre se trouve sur la bande de terre entre les lacs Vättern et Munksjön, avec campus, boutiques et vie nocturne tous à proximité. Rosenlund et Liljeholmen sont des quartiers résidentiels pratiques et plutôt centraux, tandis que Råslätt et Öxnehaga sont les zones de logement étudiant plus grandes et moins chères à un court trajet de bus.

  • Le centre pour un accès à pied au campus, au lac et à la vie nocturne
  • Råslätt et Öxnehaga pour des couloirs étudiants abordables
  • Rosenlund pour un équilibre entre prix et proximité

Göteborg est à environ deux heures en train et Stockholm trois heures et demie, deux cibles faciles pour un week-end. Plus près, la charmante ville de Gränna (patrie du bonbon polkagris) et l'île de Visingsö dans le lac Vättern font une jolie petite virée, et le rivage de Vättern est fait pour le vélo.

  • Fais un aller-retour à Gränna (environ 40 min) pour les sucres d'orge rayés polkagris et les vues sur Vättern
  • Prends le ferry vers l'île de Visingsö depuis Gränna en été
  • Prends le train pour Göteborg (environ 2h) ou Stockholm (environ 3h30) pour des week-ends en ville

Comme tant d'étudiants sont internationaux, l'anglais te mène loin, mais quelques mots de suédois sont appréciés. Prends un vélo, adopte la vie en extérieur au bord du lac, et surveille les horaires d'ouverture de Systembolaget. Les hivers sont sombres, alors construis tôt des habitudes cocooning en intérieur.

  • Achète un vélo d'occasion pour te déplacer et faire des balades au bord du lac
  • Fais tes réserves chez Systembolaget avant les week-ends et jours fériés
  • Profite de Vättern toute l'année, de la baignade aux balades au coucher du soleil

I really liked the fact of living alone, the building and the rooms are modern, you don't have an oven in your room but you have shared kitchens on your floor. Laudry and Dryer are available in the residence. The accommodation is a little expensive for the size of the room but if I had to do it again, given that I didn't want to be in a shared apartment, I would choose the same option.

Quels bars, clubs ou événements tu recommandes ?

All the bars and clubs are in the center. The best bar is O'Learys, they offer student prices on drinks, bowling and karaoke -50% on Wednesdays, good atmosphere to go watch the matches thanks to their big screens, you can also eat there. The university nightclub, AKA, open mainly on Wednesdays, quite nice at first but you have to arrive before 10 p.m. to avoid paying, and the sound is always the same but the atmosphere is good nonetheless. The best nightclub is Life, the place is beautiful, the music is nicer than AKA, but not many parties there. The Murphy offers free billiards and darts every night of the week (Friday not included).

I recommend the subject, Supply Chain, which I found very interesting, and the Swedish course.

The campus is really nice, beautiful view of the lake, the classes are pleasant. There are often associations in the hall, to introduce students. Registration is quite simple but the service center is not open very late (9am-3pm/3:30pm). Yes I Will have taken the same uni.

trips offered by the university (Lapland, Norway, Iceland). Many flexibus departures to many cities at low prices. 5 hours from Stockholm and Copenhagen 1 hour 40 minutes from Gothenburg.

Transport is quite expensive when you are over 20 (595 SEK). Life in Sweden is more expensive than in France. In terms of food there is less choice and diversity of products than in France and it is more expensive. We feel very safe there, there are a lot of police officers in the city and at night when leaving the club too. In terms of weather, in spring/summer the sun rises early and sets very late (e.g. in May it rises at 3am and sets at 11pm) and in winter/autumn the opposite (e.g. it rises at 8:30am and sets at 4pm). It's still a small town so the number of activities, restaurants and bars is quite limited. The city tour is quite quickly done.

All of the classes are quite the same in term of difficulty You don't have a lot of classes hours per week but you have to learn by heart the lessons, which require time I'm not a big fan of tis method but it's subjective

At least, there is one good thing about Jonkoping that we can't deny is travel oppportunities Sweden is a beautiful country, really far from what we use to experience Landscapes, human/nature relationship, unique activities Moreover, there are a lot of flight from sweden to European countries which cost peanut The University also organize trips which have great feedbacks but I didn't make them

Let's say that there are two type of cost : necessary to live (food, rent) & unnecessary to live (parties, sport, activities ...) The necessary-to-live cost are quit reasonable but the other costs are really expensive If you want to work, you have to get a "personnummer" (have a check on this one) and you have to speak swedish During winter, it's cold, nights are getting longer and longer, it can be quite depressive

Yes it was a nice accommodation, But they are for people who want to be in a roommate because I think there is no apartment alone, the apartment is big and we have a balcony so it's cool on the other hand we don't have a common space so we don't meet many people from the residence

Life is the best club because there are only 2 nightclubs, the bar I go to all the time is the view it's by the lake it's nice and then there are not a lot of events to leave the kick off at the beginning of the semester

The supply chain course is really interesting and the business to business marketing course also not bad we even have a challenge to do pretty cool

The campus is a little special because it's full of different buildings from all the schools and we have classes everywhere after there are cafes on campus it's pretty cool otherwise JIBS the interior of the school is nice and the H building is also very big, as for registration it was quite easy we quickly received information to create an account all that so it was, the university is good but the city in it is even not great so I think I would not choose this city

On the other hand, the trips are incredible, there is an association that works with a travel agency and so we offer you a lot of trips to do, the best is by far that of Lapland I lived an incredible experience, it seems a little expensive but it's worth it because the trip was magnificent, we can also go to Norway or Iceland which is really to do also for what is about travel so if you have the budget you can enjoy but be careful you have to register quickly it leaves quickly especially Lapland

What you need to know is that there are not many activities to do in the city, we quickly toured the activities when we have been there for a while, but there is a nice bar with a bowling alley in it and arcade games I spent a lot of time there and there is a lot of discount it is the O'learys bar, then there is a good steakhouse in front of the bar it is the grill I think, there is also a bar with darts at the bottom next to the grill, in the same place there is a cinema even if the movies are in Swedish, which is quite cool is also when the weather is nice there is a beach at the end of the lake and you can sit there have barbecues or even play volleyball so all this is really nice

What you need to know is that you really have to make friends at school so as not to be alone and bored, so you really have to go out often go for a walk near the lake go to the bar all that otherwise the days are long because we have practically no classes, be careful also if you come in January because the sun sets at 2 p.m. and it's really special you have the impression that your day is over when not at all but it demotivates a little

Registration was easy, i would pick it again for the liberty the univerosty give us. The campus is quite nice, I would say the issue would be the city, which is really small

I liked all the sustainability related courses, it should be more popular, it's very important

Tu as des conseils ?

The campus is pretty nice, there's a coffee shop, a library and a lot a rooms to study in. Registration was relatively easy. I wouldn't pick that university again, because I have ADHD and the classes at Jibs were a nightmare for my brain : huge courses with so many students, almost no practice, mostly theorical, very few classes per week and a lot to read on your own. I would recommend for someone who's very organised and independent, but if you struggle with mental health and/or socialisation I wouldn't recommend. It's very easy to isolate yourself when there is so few classes with too many people, I know many people who share the same feelings as me on that matter. However, it is a different experience for everyone, it depends on their study method and personality!

The school organised many trips, the best is the one in Finnish Lapland, in the polar circle. There's many activities and the possibility to see northern lights, best trip I ever did, 10/10!!!

It's in the north, so half of the year it's mostly night, and the other half of the year it's mostly daylight, it's important to know that people ALL go out when it's start getting sunny again, so don't be surprised if you barely see anyone in the streets during the winter!
