Gothenburg is Sweden's second largest city, with around 612,000 residents in a metro area of over a million, built around the largest port in the Nordic countries. It hosts two very different universities: the University of Gothenburg, founded in 1891 and one of the largest in the Nordics with about 53,600 students across eight faculties, and Chalmers University of Technology, founded in 1829, with roughly 10,000 students and every master's programme taught in English since 2007. Add a historic core, the Feskekôrka fish market and Scandinavia's biggest amusement park, Liseberg, and you get a genuinely varied place to spend an exchange.
