El semestre de otoño va de septiembre a enero, el de primavera de febrero a julio. Llegar en septiembre significa buen tiempo y festivales urbanos antes del invierno.

Estudiar en Roma es vivir dentro de un museo al aire libre, con el Coliseo, el Vaticano y 3.000 años de historia como telón de fondo. Aquí está la Sapienza, la universidad más grande de Europa, además de Roma Tre, LUISS y John Cabot, así que la población estudiantil es enorme e internacional. La vida es más movida y cara que en el resto de Italia, pero la riqueza de la ciudad no tiene rival.
Nápoles está a una hora y Florencia a unos 90 minutos en tren de alta velocidad.
Solo la Sapienza tiene más de 100.000 estudiantes, así que la escena internacional es gigante.
La vida nocturna se reparte entre San Lorenzo (el barrio estudiantil con más chispa, junto a la Sapienza), la animadísima Trastevere, el moderno Pigneto y los bares de Monti y Testaccio. Las noches romanas arrancan tarde con un aperitivo en alguna plaza y se alargan durante horas. Es una escena amplia y variada, con algo para cada presupuesto y cada gusto.
Bebe barato con los estudiantes en San Lorenzo, cerca de la Sapienza, y luego sigue hacia Pigneto.
Haz el aperitivo y salta de bar en bar por las callejuelas de Trastevere de noche.
Pregunta en el grupo de Roma de Studcasa qué barrios pegan más con tu estilo de salir.
Roma es una de las ciudades más caras de Italia, aunque por debajo de Milán, así que calcula la parte alta de la banda italiana, sobre todo por el alquiler. Comer y beber puede seguir siendo barato si sigues a los estudiantes a las zonas adecuadas. Vivir un poco más lejos, sobre una línea de metro o tranvía, es donde de verdad se ahorra.
Come pizza al taglio y suppli al paso por un par de euros entre clase y clase.
Comparte piso en San Lorenzo, Pigneto o las zonas más alejadas para mantener el alquiler a raya.
Sácate el abono de estudiante Metrebus para moverte sin límite por la ciudad y barato.
El mercado de alquiler es competitivo y caro, así que empieza pronto y ve siempre a ver el piso antes de pagar. Los estudiantes prefieren San Lorenzo (junto a la Sapienza), Pigneto, Ostiense y San Giovanni, además de barrios más baratos con buena conexión de metro. Los grupos de Facebook, Idealista y las agencias son las vías principales, y las estafas son habituales.
Busca en Idealista y grupos de Facebook, y publica en el grupo de Studcasa Roma para habitaciones y avisos.
San Lorenzo va perfecto para estudiantes de la Sapienza; Pigneto y Ostiense son modernos y algo más baratos.
Nunca pagues un depósito sin ver el piso antes; las estafas con alojamiento estudiantil están muy extendidas en Roma.
La red ATAC de Roma tiene tres líneas de metro, tranvías y una red de buses muy tupida, aunque el metro es limitado por las ruinas que hay bajo la ciudad. El abono de estudiante Metrebus lo cubre todo, y buena parte del centro se recorre mejor a pie. El tráfico es denso, así que evita cruzar la ciudad en coche o bus en hora punta.
Sácate el abono anual de estudiante Metrebus para metro, tranvía y bus ilimitados.
Camina por el centro histórico: el metro apenas llega, pero los monumentos están muy cerca unos de otros.
Usa tranvías y buses para las zonas que el metro no cubre, y deja margen extra por el tráfico.
Las universidades de Roma son enormes: la Sapienza es la más grande de Europa y fuerte en casi todos los campos, Roma Tre y Tor Vergata son las grandes opciones públicas, y LUISS es la mejor escuela de negocios privada. Los programas en inglés y los estudiantes internacionales abundan, junto con instituciones estadounidenses como John Cabot.
El campus principal de la Sapienza (Città Universitaria) está junto a San Lorenzo; el resto de facultades están repartidas.
Los programas ESN y de buddy Erasmus son grandes y muy activos: apúntate pronto para hacer pie.
Si eres ciudadano de la UE o del EEE no necesitas nada más allá de registrar tu residencia si te quedas más de 90 días. Los estudiantes de fuera de la UE casi siempre necesitan un visado de estudios tipo D gestionado en el consulado italiano antes de llegar, además de justificar matrícula, fondos y seguro médico. Lo que necesitas exactamente depende de tu nacionalidad, así que consúltalo con tu consulado con tiempo.
Una vez en Italia, los estudiantes de fuera de la UE deben solicitar el permesso di soggiorno, el permiso de residencia, en los ocho días siguientes a la llegada, usando un kit de correos y una cita en la questura de policía. Es lento y lleno de papeleo, así que lleva fotocopias de todo y cuenta con colas. La oficina de relaciones internacionales de tu universidad suele guiarte en el proceso.

La comida romana es potente y simple: cacio e pepe, carbonara, amatriciana y gricia, además de suppli, pizza al taglio, alcachofas (carciofi alla romana y alla giudia) y los bollos de crema maritozzi. Trastevere y Testaccio son los barrios gastronómicos clásicos. Las comidas son sociales y sin prisa, y el café es un ritual que se toma de pie.
Pide el cuarteto de pasta romana: cacio e pepe, carbonara, amatriciana y gricia.
Pica suppli y pizza al taglio, y prueba los carciofi alla giudia en el antiguo Gueto judío.
Come en las trattorias de Testaccio y Trastevere, donde hacen cola los romanos, no los turistas.
Trastevere es el barrio de vida nocturna de postal; San Lorenzo es la zona estudiantil con más carácter, junto a la Sapienza; Monti es céntrico y con encanto; y Testaccio es el corazón gastronómico y obrero. Pigneto es el barrio moderno y artístico, mientras que Prati, cerca del Vaticano, es elegante y más tranquilo. El centro storico es precioso pero caro.
San Lorenzo: barato, con carácter y el corazón estudiantil junto a la Sapienza.
Trastevere: bonito y animado, pero más caro y turístico.
Pigneto y Ostiense: modernos, más baratos y bien conectados por tranvía.
El nudo ferroviario de Roma facilita las escapadas. Nápoles está a una hora y Florencia a 90 minutos en tren de alta velocidad, mientras que las villas de Tívoli, las ruinas de Ostia Antica y los pueblos vinícolas de los Castelli Romani son excursiones cortas. Orvieto, Asís y la costa de Sperlonga completan las opciones de fin de semana.
Coge el tren de alta velocidad a Nápoles o Florencia para un día o un fin de semana fuera.
Visita la Villa d'Este y la Villa Adriana en Tívoli, o las ruinas de Ostia Antica, en tren de cercanías.
Escápate a los pueblos de los Castelli Romani para vino y un ritmo más tranquilo.
Date tiempo: Roma es enorme, calurosa en verano y lenta por la burocracia, así que la paciencia se agradece. Resuelve el alojamiento pronto y vigila las estafas de alquiler, no pierdas de vista tus cosas en buses llenos como el 64, y lleva agua en verano aprovechando los nasoni gratuitos. Ponte zapatos cómodos, porque vas a caminar mucho.
Rellena la botella en los nasoni de la calle en vez de comprar agua con el calor del verano.
Cuida tu móvil y tu cartera en los buses turísticos y cerca de la estación Termini.
Empieza a buscar piso pronto y nunca transfieras un depósito sin verlo en persona antes.

I recommend the class Financial Markets & Institutions, because you have two midterms with multiple-choice questions and if you pass both you do not have to do the final exam. Mathematical Finance is a pretty though course even if you're pretty good in math.

The rent in Rome is pretty high. The food is obviously amazing cause you're in Italy. Rome is a very safe city. Transportation costs is basically free, because I never bought bus or tram tickets and I never got checked.

yes it was nice to leave there i loved it thanks to my roommates but the housing on itself is really old, lot of problems with fournitures, water, the cold for examples, moreover our receptionists did not talk english at all. Otherwise this little problems, sharing a room with someone is actually is not as bad as i thought it was really fun, we had once a week cleaning ladies and the garden in the residence is big and welcoming. I don’t know if i had the opportunity if i would have taken the same place again but i had a great time there.

Visits all Italie, milan, florence, naples… but i do not recommend bari if its to stay actually there it should be a city where you sleep and then go visit another one. Otherwise all the other cities are so great to visits, the planes are cheap and there is a possibility to take the bus and trains and for non european, france, slovenia are countries that you can easily travel too while in rome.

My place was very close to my university. I recommend to live in Trieste or Parioli. They are both very close about 20min so very cool. Living in a colliding was my first experience of independence and my roommates aren't really clean, plus the appartement has a lot of problems

I didn't go to many events yet, but of you ever come to Rome, here's what I would recommend: Bella Donna (restaurant close to Trevi Fountain and piazza della Spagna)
Ombre Rosse (bar/ restaurant with a really chill vibe with cheap menu and excellent wine ;))
Emporio Brasiliero (close to Termini station, it is the best Brazilian food i ever had)
And lastly, (even though it's not always specifically in Rome) Fervo Fluxo have the best baile funk dj mix, I really had the best time

My campus (lingue letterature e culture straniere) was okay. You will have to be patient and ready to spend a good amount of time looking for your answers because the administration won't be so much helpful. But I feel like Roma Tre, especially (because it's my pov) for those who study languages is a cool university, with a good variety of classes.
But don't expect to be bestie with italian people because they just don't care about you 😬

So for me, transports were actually decent. Before coming i heard people say busses are the worst they never come... but for me it's really not that bad (i guess I'm used to worst haha), you just have to be well informed. So I would recommend "probus Roma" because the timing is accurate. You also have to know that strikes are pretty common here (basically every friday). As a black person, in my experience (emphasis on my) i didn't feel any kind of racism (not more that i would usually). For me and for now, Rome has been pretty safe. I feel like Rome is cheaper than Paris in terms of groceries and life in general (you just have, with the time find the good places). Food, as you can imagine, is amazing. Weather in Rome is actually warmer than what I'm used to, so you can forget your big fat sweater, you won't need it here.

Just enjoy, at your own scale and pace. If you're not a party animal, just don't go to so many events. Your experience doesn't have to look like everyone else. If you're just a chill person, go do chill things that will make YOU happy. I swear you will have a great experience because it will be yours, it will be the one you made for you and not for others.
