Das West End rund um die Byres Road ist das Studi-Herzstück, vollgepackt mit Pubs, Cafés und der Ashton Lane. Die Live-Musik-Szene ist weltklasse, von winzigen Venues bis zum legendären Barrowland.
Glasgow bietet für eine große britische Stadt richtig gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, mit günstigerer Miete als Edinburgh und berühmt gutem, günstigem Essen. Die Subway und Curry-Häuser strecken dein Budget ordentlich.
Das West End ist das klassische Studi-Viertel nahe der Glasgow Uni, während Southside und Dennistoun günstiger und im Kommen sind. Wo du wohnst, richtet sich oft nach deiner Uni.
Die kreisförmige Subway zieht ihre Runde durch Zentrum und West End, gestützt vom größten Vorortbahnnetz Großbritanniens außerhalb Londons. Busse decken den Rest ab.
Glasgow hat eine starke Uni-Auswahl und eine große internationale Community. Das akademische Jahr folgt dem schottischen Semester-Muster.
Seit dem Brexit haben EU-Bürger keine Freizügigkeit mehr, also brauchen die meisten Studierenden außer Iren eine Erlaubnis zum Studieren. Für einen Austausch bis zu sechs Monaten kannst du oft über die Short-term-Study-Route einreisen oder einfach als Standard Visitor, je nach Nationalität und Kurslänge. Für ein volles Jahr brauchst du ein Student-Visum, gesponsert von deiner Gastuni.
Was für dich gilt, hängt komplett von deinem Pass ab, bestätige das also früh mit der Uni und den offiziellen UK-Regierungsrichtlinien. Das Student-Visum braucht eine CAS-Referenz von deiner Uni, einen Kontonachweis und meist den Immigration Health Surcharge, plane also Zeit und Geld dafür ein.
Glasgow nimmt Essen und Kultur ernst, von einer berühmten Curry-Szene bis zu kostenlosen Weltklasse-Museen. Alltägliche Leckereien sind günstig und herzhaft.
West End, Innenstadt und Southside haben alle ihren eigenen Charakter und ihr eigenes Preisniveau. Finnieston hat sich zum Foodie-Liebling entwickelt.
Glasgow ist der schnellste Ausgangspunkt für die Highlands und die Inseln, Edinburgh ist auch nah dran. Manche Zugfahrten sind Attraktionen für sich.
Der Akzent braucht etwas Eingewöhnung, aber der Empfang ist herzlich gemeint. Pack Regenkleidung ein und sei vorsichtig bei Fußball-Rivalitäten.

Würdest du sie empfehlen?
Yes because the building is very modern with everything you need (your own bathroom, well equiped shared kitchen). However, if you can get the university accomodation go for it. It make the experience 10x more fun.
Welche Bars, Clubs oder Events empfiehlst du?
There are so many pubs in Glasgow. I would recommend Hillhead Book Club (on thursdays for karaoke nights), Kitty O Sheas (for the live music), and Vodka Wodka for the student vibes.

Just choose what you're interested in and everything should go well.

The campus is big but the main building is stunning. There are loads of study spaces. Yes I would pick the same uni again.
Die besten Trips?
From Glasgow you can visit many cities like Stirling or Edinburgh by taking the train (less that 20£ for a day trip). There are also many parks like Pollock Park where you can see highland cows. There are also many hikes around Glasgow that are accessible by bus.

The transports are easy to use but they don't run during the night, so after a night out you will have to walk are take a taxi. The west end and city center are safe to walk in late at night but if you have to cross the city it can be dangereous (like every big city). It rains a lot and there are a lot of puddles so bring boots.
Go to the association/sport club fair at the start of the semester and join a club !! I joined the ski club as a competitive member and it's how I met all my friends. Sport wednesdays go crazy too

Yes ! You’ll have flatmates so you need to be okay with sharing kitchen, bathroom and shower but you’ll have your own bedroom and sink. Also I think it is crucial to encounter people. I know some who prefered having their own apartment etc but they struggled to meet other internationnal students. Also it is next to everything in the city so really usefull. i really liked the experience and created cool friendships !

Loads of clubs and pubs open everyday (more in the end of the week but still) My tops are Club - The Buff, Manuka Bars / pubs - Felson (chill, pool etc), Malone’s

You have plenty of classes to choose between. I would recommend having a funnier one (betwsen marketing theories I had sport and media)

Amazing campus with big library where to work etc. Registration super easy. The uni sends a lot of emails so you’re not on your own. Also there is an assignement help department to help you in preparing exams or essays etc. Would recommend going

Isle of skye, Harry Potter train, Edinburgh (1h15-30 from glasgow, max 10pounds by bus). Would recommend taking the train and explore cities even if it is less famous. Went on tours with some companies cause without a car (under 25 it is expensive) it is complicated.

You’ll walk a lot but it is a nice city and think about going out with something for the rain, in 5min it can go from sunny to rainy ahah
In the GCU residence for student, there’s a social space (working, pool, ping pong, cinema room) very cool to change from working in the library, bedroom, kitchen or coffee shop. And really cool to spend time with friends without having to go out

Yes, it was a pleasant experience. The student residence is located next to the campus and there are many activities offered to meet other students. The classes were interesting and the teachers are friendly. Paisley is a beautiful, quiet town close to Glasgow. I recommend it !

There are a few bars and nightclubs in Paisley, but the town is rather quiet in the evenings. It is recommended to go out in Glasgow, which is livelier and easily accessible by public transport.

There are a lot of courses and possibilities. I really enjoyed Marketing and leadership courses.

The Paisley campus is great: it's big but easy to get to and it's easy to find your way around. There are lots of people and students available to help you. There's a large library, a cafeteria, and a gym available. It's a very nice campus. There are lots of different communities, which is great for meeting people from different cultures.

Paisley has a good range of transport options (train, bus, plane), and the town is a 10-minute train ride from Glasgow. However, traveling in Scotland is relatively expensive. Major cities are well-connected, but if you want to travel within the country, it's recommended to have a car (given that renting a car in Scotland is complicated and expensive). Therefore, you'll need to plan ahead to book trains and budget for your travels.
Was musst du unbedingt wissen für dein bestes Leben in Glasgow?
Paisley is a very quiet and relatively safe town. Glasgow, like all big cities, is dynamic and lively. Some places are to be avoided, but the majority of people are friendly. The Scots are a little cold at first, but remain very welcoming.
I recommend purchasing a train pass, which will save you a lot of money on travel, or renting a car if possible. It's important to book your trips well in advance to avoid excessively high prices. I recommend traveling to the north of Scotland, hiking, and visiting castles. Finally, I recommend seeing Edinburgh over several days because it's a very rich city with many things to see and museums to visit.

nice because I was with an other French who was clean in his way of living. The appartient was indeed clean.

The Wetherspoons are crazy, the Irish Pubs too. You have to start very early your nights cause everyone is in his bed at 2 or 3 am so I am able to recommend only bars

So everyone is nice plus if you are French you will be loved by everyone so don't hesitate to meet someScottish lads and they will propose you rapidly some activities with them !
The electricity has to be paid by cards you buy at the post Office, so it's not like in France when you pay at the end of the month what you consumed. Except that go discover the lakes, campaign and Higlands of Scotland, go there, sleep there and be close to the nature which is incredible there :).
