Szczecin is Poland's seventh largest city and the capital of West Pomerania, a green river port of about 395,000 people close to the German border, with roughly 777,000 in the wider metropolitan area. Five higher education institutions call the city home, including the University of Szczecin and the West Pomeranian University of Technology, a partner in the EUNICoast European University alliance. There is no citywide ESN section here, so each university runs its own international office and welcome support instead, including a dedicated mobile app for foreign students at the University of Szczecin. Expect wide Haussmann style boulevards and a real river city rather than a typical Polish capital.
- Apply through your chosen university's own international relations office.
- Download the Foreigners at USz app if you study at that university.
- Expect a real river city of nearly 400,000, not a small town.
