Beautiful American-style campus. - Administrative process is simple, but make sure to choose courses online before arrival (not possible after). - Sort out…..
What kind of place was it?
Classic Apartment
How much was the rent per month?
Around 250 euros per person
Where was it located?
10 minutes from the university by foot, nice neighborhood close to a park Best areas: near the university or near the old town (but that is farther from the uni)
How can someone find this place?
Through local rental sites (cheaper than Airbnb) Contact of landlord Tural: +994 55 477 71 77
Would you recommend it?
First month in university apartment (no kitchen, random roommates). Then a shared apartment with 2 other students (100 m², 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room). Highly recommended over the university apartment
What are some top bars, clubs, or events you recommend?
- FOMO club (amazing but expensive) - Rooftops in the old town - No big student parties, you need to make friends locally - Formula 1 Grand Prix events are big - Best bar: The ROOM (great street for nightlife)
Which classes do you recommend… or not?
Only 5 subjects in total, very easy. All classes are mandatory.
Do you have some tips?
Beautiful American-style campus. - Administrative process is simple, but make sure to choose courses online before arrival (not possible after). - Sort out your visa and documents quickly, otherwise you risk being stuck in the country (happened to us for 3 months). - ADA is the only really good university in Baku.
Best trips to do?
- Hiking in the northern mountains - Weekend trips to mountain lakes - Early September or summer at the local “Saint-Tropez” (ask locals for the spot) - Avoid the entire south of the country, especially Nagorno-Karabakh
What do you absolutely need to know to live your best life in Baku?
- Metro is good, but taxis are so cheap you will take them most of the time - Cost of living is very low - Baku is very safe, but suburbs can be tricky as a foreigner - Weather is like France - Food: many traditional restaurants in the old town. Otherwise, McDonald’s is everywhere if you don’t feel adventurous
Baku is a surprising and very pleasant city. Do not trust negative things you read online, it is a great experience.
